Change Team:
Great Team Win...
by posted 11/28/2021

We challenged the kids before the game to set the tone with an aggressive forecheck rooted in purpose and to move the puck.  Today's game was one of (if not the) most complete game(s) we have seen in terms of  'team commitment to forechecking with purpose' and tenacious puck pursuit.  Great team win with all three defensemen playing smart and tough across all three periods.  Both of our lines won the turnover battle, played sound defensive hockey which created consistent offensive opportunities that we were able to capitalize on.  Scotty Alton was busy all morning - played fantastic in net and (100%) earned that victory.  Teddy Gormley went hard to the net and buried a beauty of pass by Michael McGarry to tie the game @ one.  Teddy was relentless on the forecheck, and @ one point took on the entire Town of Hanover for a 45 second frame while killing a penalty... and won.  Teddy also had a number of high quality shots down low and high in the slot and played excellent!!

Back @ it tomorrow morning early...

Bill Parcells would always say that 'the real NFL season starts after Thanksgiving' and I feel the same can be said for youth hockey.  Hat's off to Tri-County for playing really aggressisve hockey with only two substitutes.  Overall, we felt that our team lacked aggressiveness specific to our puck pursuit, and played back on our heels for a good proportion of the game.  The forecheck was not exactly what we need to consistently limit the opponents 'time and space' and thus create turnovers.  We'll be looking for an overall stronger and more consistent effort tomorrow morning bright and early @ Asiaf versus the always hungry Hanover Indians.  Mason Pasquantonio played territfic in net and kept us within reach, and Cillian Gorham was recognized for his effort and 'will to win'.  Cillian played well on the back-end, and created a number of offensive opportunities which resulted in several high percentage scoring opportunities.
